The Details:

Due to the COVID19 pandemic, we are only offering in-person consults in our East Brunswick office.

See procedure update below.

Check back for updates regarding home visits.

We are in network with Aetna, United, Oxford, Cigna, Qualcare and Amerihealth insurance plans provided by an employer*. Medicaid is not accepted. We bill the insurance  directly for both mom and baby.

Horizon BCBS will reimburse for 2-3 visits however, payment is due at the time of service.  A superbill will be provided for you to submit to BCBS.

*Please confirm coverage with your specific plan- each plan has different coverage

The same day cancellation fee is $50.00 with or without insurance.

We accept credit cards, HSA/FSA cards, cash or check.

In-person visits include history taking, oral evaluation of baby, breastfeeding parent exam, observed feed with pre- and post-weights, experimenting with different techniques and practicing ones that work best. Parents will receive a plan of care and a written report will be faxed to both pediatrician and OB-GYN.

COVID19 update: We time visits to allow for proper cleaning and air exchange of the room between families.  We use drapes to cover the scale, changing table and couch and will have your wash/sanitize your hands and take your temperature upon arrival. We will limit our time in close proximity to you and baby and masks must be worn during the consult.  We allow one support person to accompany the breastfeeding parent and baby.

Video consults People are often surprised that personal lactation consults can be done virtually! However, we have been conducting virtual consults long before COVID19.  We use a HIPAA-secure telemedicine platform to protect your privacy and can often bill your insurance for the session.  While these consults don't take the place of a hands-on exam, you can get your questions answered from the comfort of your own home! Video consultations are 30 to 60 minutes.
